Brown Community Academy - Chicago Public Schools

We collaborated with Chicago Public Schools and Openlands - Space to Grow to design and install a new schoolyard, including a football field and playground. The students and community were engaged in the design process throughout. The outdoor space has been transformed into a vibrant, high-performance recreation area for the students while simultaneously storing and managing more than 300,000 gallons of stormwater. The rain gardens also provide an opportunity for students to engage with nature. The project enhances student athletics, promotes community engagement, and provides a durable, safe surface for years of play and competition.
