Gateway Foundation - Lake Villa

A small, intimate garden was designed at the Gateway Foundation facility in Lake Villa to provide a serene setting overlooking the adjacent woodland. Framing the building’s circular conference room, the garden creates a direct visual connection between interior and exterior spaces. Native plants were selected for seasonal interest and to support pollinators, while two seating areas were incorporated to allow residents and visitors to relax and reflect. The garden complements the new building and reinforces the center’s mission of recovery and wellness. By integrating ecological and therapeutic considerations, the landscape enhances both the aesthetic and functional experience of the campus, creating a quiet, restorative outdoor retreat.
